Heartland Hickory is our signature collection of handcrafted wood goods made from genuine hickory.

Known for its strength, distinctive grain, and natural variation, hickory gives every piece a character of its own. No two boards—and no two finished products—look exactly alike.

Each Heartland Hickory item is designed, shaped, sanded, finished, and personalized in our South Dakota workshop.

Why Hickory?

Hickory is one of the strongest and most recognizable domestic hardwoods. Its grain can range from light and subtle to bold and dramatic, with natural changes in color, texture, and pattern throughout each piece.

We chose hickory because it reflects what we want this collection to represent:

Strength. Character. Craftsmanship.

Rather than covering up the natural qualities of the wood, we allow them to remain part of the finished product. Grain variation, mineral streaks, knots, and color changes are not flaws—they are part of what makes every piece unique.

North American-Sourced Hickory

The hickory used throughout our Heartland Hickory collection is North American-grown and sourced through suppliers in the United States. Choosing domestically sourced lumber allows us to work with a wood that reflects the strength, character, and natural beauty associated with American hardwoods.

From the lumber we select to the final sanding and finishing, each piece is crafted in our South Dakota workshop.

Made in Our Workshop

Heartland Hickory products are not simply purchased, engraved, and resold.

Many begin as full pieces of lumber that we cut, shape, sand, drill, finish, and assemble ourselves. Laser engraving allows us to add detailed artwork and personalization, but the foundation of every product remains genuine woodworking.

Each piece is handled individually and made in small batches with attention to the details that mass-produced products often overlook.

Some Heartland Hickory products are practical. Others are symbolic, personal, or faith-centered.

Many can be engraved with names, dates, verses, initials, messages, or other details that turn a handcrafted wood item into something meaningful.

Whether it is carried every day, used around the home, given as a gift, or kept as a reminder, we want each piece to feel like it was made for a reason.

Naturally One of a Kind

Because hickory is a natural material, the product you receive will not look exactly like every product shown in our photographs.

Each piece may vary in:

Grain pattern
Color and contrast
Mineral markings
Texture
Natural knots or character marks

These variations are expected and are part of the beauty of real wood. They make every Heartland Hickory product genuinely one of a kind.
